| All particpants at the Jakarta- IDO Meeting |
During our trip to Australia and due to the appointment by the IDO-president to negotiate as “IDO-Ambassador” for the Asian-Pacific Region I had the pleasure meeting with Mrs. Aleena Tan (Singapore) and Mr. John Lim (Malaysia) in Singapore.
The exchange of information and an interesting talk in the bar of the Singapore Hilton and later showed us that there are numerous countries in Asia who are interested in IDO but have little knowledge or information on our wonderful organization. We agreed inmeeting many interested countries being invitetd to Jakarta one day before the Princess Championships.
The list of participants from 7 countries attending on in the Hotel Twin Towers, Jakarta, Indonesia on Friday January 22, 2010 can be seen below.
Again, my special thanks to Stuart Saunders, who, as former Secretary of the WDC and “Dance Expert” for the “Asia Pacific Region,” opened the gate and prepared all these meetings for me.
I showed the IDO-Presentation by power point, which is also attached as a PDF.
This was followed with a discussion, with many questions and answers obviously showing how many dancers are doing Hip Hop and Performing Arts, as well as Salsa, in the many countries attending. However, they are not organized at all. It seems no one knows about the existence of IDO.
After the presentation and the discussion the delegates’ opinion about IDO was absolutely positive. I am sure some countries will become IDO members soon.
I suggested starting with one discipline as a PRIMARY MEMBER and later developing to become FULL MEMBER.
But I am sure Malaysia and Thailand will be ready to become FULL MEMBERS soon, because they do all IDO dances already, without official competitions and recognitions, and have dancers ready to compete at IDO world events.
The countries in Asia are ready for IDO! And IDO is ready for many more wonderful dancers from South East Asia additionally to our existing members in Japan and Korea who are already working closely and successfully with IDO.
